The Southern Main Sea Kayaking Network is updating our membership renewal procedure and the process by which new members join SMSKN. This year, 2010, we will transition to an annual renewal, with all membership renewal fees due on January 1 in future years. This new renewal system will both simplify the membership committee's task, by having renewals occur at one time, rather than spread throughout the year, and remove the renewing members question of "When do I need to renew?" Announcements will be sent to the membership prior to Jan. 1, so that all members have plenty of time to renew. Reminders will also be sent out, as is currently done.

During this transition year only, we will be offering prorated single and family renewals and new memberships, based on the following schedule. In the future, annual renewals for existing members will be for the full amount, regardless of renewal submission date. Members whose membership has lapsed for two years or more will be treated as new members when they rejoin.

  • Oct. 1  - Dec 31, 2010 -   $5,   $6.25
New members joining between January 1 and July 31, of any year, starting in 2011, will pay $20 for a single membership, and $25 for a family membership. Those joining between August 1 and Dec. 31, of any year starting with 2011, will pay $10 for a single membership and $12.50 for a family membership. Subsequent membership renewals are due on January 1 of succeeding years, and are for the full membership renewal price of $20 for individuals and $25 for families.
